Karachi Grammar: A Teach2030 Spotlight Partnership and School

This month, we focus on Karachi Grammar, an independent school of approximately 2400 children, with 3 separate campuses based in Karachi, Pakistan. In 2025, their innovative and dynamic headteacher, Carl Lander, chose for his teachers to complete our Teach2030 course ‘Being A Professional Teacher.’ This course helps teachers to become more organised with how they present themselves as teachers and encourages the application of teaching standards to practice.

Now that most teachers have completed the course, we are delighted to share some of their feedback and photos.

I have a become a good teacher after completing a course has a transformative impact on both myself and the students. A well-trained teacher gains a deeper understanding of effective teaching strategies, classroom management, and the diverse learning needs of students. This knowledge empowers them to create a supportive, engaging, and inclusive learning environment. As a result, students are more likely to thrive academically and develop key life skills, while parents gain confidence in the education system. Moreover, the teacher’s own professional growth fosters a sense of fulfilment and a lifelong commitment to shaping the future of their students.

Within the course, there is a heavy emphasis on communicating professionally, ensuring that personal boundaries are set.

Ahmareen Arsalan says ‘I have learnt that I need to be very careful while communicating in a formal setting. Additionally, I need to be positive and professional in dealing with students and guardians. I cannot form very close relationships with colleagues also.’

Meanwhile, Hammad Junejo says ‘I learned the importance of clear and effective communication with guardians and using that as a means to help my students.’

For Saman, ‘I learnt to communicate more effectively with parents and students, as it is very important. Teachers need to be compassionate towards children and understand the needs of each student.

Teachers also provided constructive feedback when considering how to improve the courses. We have listened and will be providing more videos and teacher scenarios!

Teachers have a packed workload and into an already busy schedule we need to put in professional development so that the teachers and we, as an institution, keep developing.  The Teaching and Leadership Development team ot KGS work hard to provide opportunities for our staff.  Working in partnership with the Commonwealth Trust means we can achieve our goals whilst also having access to the highest quality teacher training.  We look forward to developing our relationship further in the coming years.

We are hopefully looking forward to cementing our partnership further with a new cohort of teachers soon!
