So, why should teachers be life-long learners? Life moves fast. The technological advances of even the last ten years have required us to learn new skills simply to keep up. The world of education is seeing similar change and development. As teachers, we provide learning opportunities for the children we teach everyday. But, do we still see ourselves as learners too? Evidence suggests that teachers who view themselves as life-long learners are more successful in and out of the classroom. They do 3 key things. Firstly, they see challenges as part of their life-long learning process, and do not see mistakes as failures. Instead, they view them as a way to learn new information, to solve problems and challenges. Secondly, they work together to improve their teaching. Teachers who collaborate to create innovative teaching methods achieve better learning outcomes for their pupils. And, finally, they set an example for their learners. They are good role models by being open about the new techniques, skills and strategies they are still learning. Being a successful teacher is a career long process. Teach2030 is proud to support teachers in their journey, as part of the strong believe in teachers always learning.
